Project Description

Background

In order to ensure a stable and sufficient supply of electricity in the future, and in conjunction with the government’s priority to use clean natural gas to generate electricity, and to enhance power generation performance and competitiveness, with a view to diminish the volume of greenhouse gas exhaust produced per KWh, Taiwan Power Company (TPC) is undertaking the Tung Hsiao Power Plant (THPP) renewal project which located on the north side of the Nanshixi exit of Tung Hsiao Township, Miaoli County. The project involves the installation of three 892 MW Combined cycle units, totally 2677.8 MW.

Project Location and Scope

Tung Hsiao Power Plant (THPP) renewal project is located in Tung Hsiao Township, Miaoli County which is on the west coast of the central position in Taiwan. The geographical location is approximately 120 ° 39’40 ”E, 24 ° 29’36” N. The site of THPP is a quadrilateral reclaimed land with a length of about 688m and a width of about 630m. The area is about 0.43 km². The northeast side is TungHsiao Railway Station, and the east side is adjacent to the Xibin Expressway. The south side of the site is adjacent to the mouth of Nanshi River, and the west side is the Taiwan Strait.

Note：
  1. The revised schedule of Unit 3 commercial operation is 2020/6/30 as approved per Executive Yuan's letter No. 1070035115 dated 2018/11/20. The actual date of Unit 3 commercial operation was on 2020/5/26.
  2. The total cumulative scheduled progress is based on the date of this project completion(2022/12/31) as 100%. The date of project completion was revised to 2022/12/31 per the approval of Excutive Yuan on 2020/3/13. The date of units commerical operation and the investment amount remain unchanged.
