Introduction of Thermal Power Plants

Datan Thermal Power Plant is located at the specific industrial area of Datan Binhai, Guanyin District, Taoyuan City. It was built to meet the national economic development and relieve the power demand in the northern region. The plant is equipped with 6 combined-cycle units and 1 single-cycle unit with natural gas as the main fuel. Total installed capacity is 4,984.2MW.

The work for the single-cycle unit expanding to a combined-cycle unit has been started since 1st January, 2023, so the total installed capacity is now 4,384.2MW.

In response to the overall demand for Taiwan's power system in the future, and in line with the government's plan to expand the use of natural gas for power generation, we have Datan combined cycle power plant expansion project for“Combined cycle power generating equipment with power block buildings and facilities for Units 8 & 9 (2247.2MW)”and “Add-on combined cycle power plant for Unit no.7 (913MW)”in progress.
