Can alkaline batteries and zinc-carbon batteries be used together?

Index > Power Life > Electrical Safety

Alkaline batteries, zinc-carbon batteries, rechargeable batteries... Can so many kinds of batteries be used together?

No!

The battery is converted into electric energy through a chemical reaction. Different types of batteries have different chemical compositions of positive and negative electrodes and electrolytes, and voltage and capacitance are also different.

In the case of alkaline and zinc-carbon batteries, because of the different electrolyte materials, the alkaline capacity is about 3 or 4 times of the capacity of zinc-carbon batteries. If used together, when the zinc-carbon battery is out of power, the current flows through the unpowered zinc-carbon battery (which produces internal resistance), which in turn consumes alkaline battery power in vain! There is also the risk of leakage and overheating!

Different types, different old and new batteries, do not use together! Not only waste electricity but also waste money!
