November 16, 2023 - The award ceremony for the 16th Arts & Business Awards was held by the Ministry of Culture today. Taipower recognized in the Arts & Business Awards for the fourth time, making it the only state-owned enterprise to receive three major awards this year: the Gold Award, Annual Creative Award, and Cultural Sustainability Development Award. Taipower stated that in this year’s Arts & Business Awards, its “Taipower Cultural Innovation Project—Retired Substation Boxes and Sun Moon Lake Sediment Recycling Project” won the Annual Creative Award, and its “Taiwan Electric Industry Cultural Pathway Planning Project” won the Cultural Sustainability Development Award. While Taipower continues to fulfill its mission of ensuring a stable power supply, it also actively invests in areas related to culture, arts, and cultural heritage preservation, aiming to showcase Taiwan’s cultural vitality through the cultural heritage of the electricity industry!
At this year’s ceremony for the Arts & Business Awards, Taipower President Yao-Ting Wang accepted the award from Premier Chien-Jen Chen on behalf of the Company. Taipower explained that the “Retired Substation Boxes and Sun Moon Lake Sediment Recycling Project” is an initiative where Taipower utilizes recycled retired electrical materials and byproducts to create everyday items like thermal insulation pads, trays, and coasters. This project allows retired electrical materials to be reintroduced into daily life, with the aim of raising public awareness and concern for environmental sustainability through these creations.
Taipower further explained that the “Taiwan Electric Industry Cultural Pathway Planning Project” is a cultural journey that showcases the research findings on the history and culture of the electric industry. Starting with hydroelectric power and moving from north to south, the project begins in the Xindian River and Dajia River basins and gradually expands to include the Zhuoshui River basin. Through themed one-day walking tour activities, the project invites the public to explore the historical texture of the electric industry’s development and deepen their understanding of its history and culture. By integrating the culture of the electric industry with local resources, this project aims to preserve and activate local resources, promote regional revitalization, and engage local communities in shaping their vision and imagination of the electric industry’s cultural pathway.
Taipower stated that the Ministry of Culture holds the Arts & Business Awards every 2 years. After winning the Jury Award at the 13th Arts & Business Awards for the first time in 2017 with the “renovation of open spaces in its buildings”, Taipower continued its success by receiving the Gold Award and the Corporate Contribution Award at the 14th Arts & Business Awards in 2019 for its efforts in “cultural heritage preservation, cultural and artistic exhibitions, and promotion”. It also received the Gold Award at the 15th Arts & Business Awards. In 2023, at the 16th Arts & Business Awards, Taipower was not only honored for the fourth time but was also the only state-owned enterprise to simultaneously receive the Gold Award, the Annual Creative Award, and the Cultural Sustainable Development Award, achieving significant recognition for its contributions to culture and sustainability.
Taipower stated that ensuring a stable power supply is the mission of its employees. In recent years, Taipower has been actively involved in cultural and creative design, as well as the research and application of historical materials related to the electric industry. The Company aims to showcase the diverse aspects of Taiwan’s cultural vitality through its electric industry heritage. In the future, Taipower plans to expand its efforts in promoting the cultural heritage of the electric industry by collaborating with other industries such as forestry, sugar, and mining, to complete Taiwan’s cultural mosaic. This initiative aims to illuminate the streets and alleys of Taiwan with the developmental footprint of the electric industry.
