Nuclear Power Generation Cost by Year
Unit: NTD/kWh
Note:
  1. The data of power generation cost is not included transmission, distribution and selling.
  2. The data of power generation cost was used by fiscal year before the year of 1999.After the year of 1999, the data of power generation cost was used over the years.
  3. International Financial Reporting Standards had been adopted after the year of 2013.Nuclear power back-end management fund NT 0.17 per kilowatt-hour was no longer be recognized, and had been replaced in reimbursement. In addition, the decommission fee of liability discount Interest, amortization of nuclear fuel decommissioning cost, depreciation and low-level radioactive waste of decommissioning cost of fixed assets were in recognition(about NT 0.37 per kilowatt-hour).
  4. The power generation cost was higher than usual in 2016 because of the demands of Atomic Energy Council for building indoor nuclear spent fuel dry storage instead of outdoor one. And following the accountant’s suggestions, the unamortized assets of the Chin-Shan Nuclear Power Plant #1 are recognized as nuclear fuel costs and depreciation expenses (Total NT1.14 per kilowatt-hour)
  5. On September 3, 2020, the Ministry of Economic Affairs approved the cost revaluation of nuclear energy back-end activities (NTD 472.9 billion), which raised the measurement of provision. Except for the amount need to be capitalized, the remaining should be recognized year-by-year as accrued liabilities. In 2020, an increased liability induced by the revaluation is NTD 24.1 billion in estimation, which result in higher cost of nuclear power generation as well.
