Units No.5~10 Air Quality Control System (AQCS) Retrofit Work Project of Taichung Power Plant
04/23/24
Project Description
Background
Unit No. 5~10 of Taichung Power Plant have achieved outstanding performance since they were put into operation in 1996. However, due to the increasingly stricter standards of the central and local environmental protection regulations in recent years, the existing units will be retrofitted to supply the stable power and meet the environmental protection standards in the future operation life time by improving the air pollution control equipment, reducing various pollutants - NOx, SOx, PM, etc stable power supply.
Retrofit Scope
Improvement of Air Quality Control System(AQCS),includes the selective catalyst reduction (SCR .The SCR system shall be retrofitted to enhance the Mercury (Hg) oxidation rate),low low temperature electrostatic precipitator(LLESP),flue gas desulfurizationequipment(FGD) , wet electrostatic precipitator(WESP) and media gas-gas heater(MGGH).
Expected Effectiveness
The plan is expected to improve the existing NOX, PM and SOX control equipment of unit 5 to 10, so that the air pollutant concentration discharged by the units can be lower than the requirements of the air pollutant emission regulation of electric power facilities of the environmental protection Bureau of Taichung City Government (announced on 2024/01/01):
- Nitrogen oxide (NOx): the concentration discharged will be reduced to 20ppm.
- Particulate pollutants (PM): the concentration discharged will be reduced to 5mg/Nm3
- Sulfur oxide (SOx): the concentration discharged will be reduced to 10 ppm.
