LinKou Power Plant Renewal Project
Existing Linkou Power Plant existing units have run over 40 years. To improve the power supply capability of northern Taiwan, TPC planned to construct three new 800 MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired units. The required coal supply will be transported, with enclosed conveyor belt, from coal unloading port to new built ten 70,000 tons coal storage silos.
Project Location and Scope
The scope of this project is within the current Existing Linkou Power Plant land scope. The new construction area of overall 52.23 hectares is based in the northeast corner of Linkou District, New Taipei City, adjacent to Coast Expressway.

Obtaining Electricity Generation License
- Ministry of Economic Affairs has issued Electricity Generation License for Unit 3 on 2018/10/24(letter No.10800225660).
- The total cumulative scheduled progress is based on the end date of this plan (2022/12/31) as 100%.
Unit 1 Electricity License has been issued by 2016/10/06 in advance. Commercial operation mission has been completed.
Unit 2 Electricity License has been issued by 2017/03/24 in advance. Commercial operation mission has been completed
Unit 3 Electricity License has been issued by 2019/10/24 in advance. Commercial operation mission has been completed.
Air Quality Control System (AQCS) used for environmental protection
Environmentally Friendly Measures
|Improve equipment power generation efficiency
||New Unit of efficiency is 44.93%. Compare with Original Unit, it upgrades 6.93% efficiency. It almost reduces 20% of CO2 emissions per kilowatt hour.。
|Reuse of coal ash resources
||This raises the volume and utilization rate of the coal ash (replace cement) and reduces the greenhouse gas emission for 1.83 hundred thousand-ton per year.
|Plant landscaping, Green building design
||1.Planning space near south of Power plant and Hong-fu palace as resting place of residents.
2.Enhance 2 Green Building design concepts in Basic design stage; using permeable paving and ventilation system (for energy saving and reducing carbon dioxide emission).
|Carbon reduction alternative plan
||According to New Taipei city government plan, replace mercury vapor lamp as LED roadway lamp (for reducing carbon dioxide emission).
Recycling and reuse of power plant wastewater to reduce emissions; Set up wastewater treatment equipment to treat wastewater to meet discharge water standards.
