To apply for the service, tenants must bring their residential lease agreement and identification document to Taipower’s service office and fill out an application form. Processing takes approximately 3 to 5 working days. After registration is complete, tenants can go online to conveniently check the average electricity cost per kWh for their rented property at any time and from anywhere.

January 31, 2024 – To promote the transparency of the rental housing market’s electricity usage information, Taipower has launched the Tenant Electricity Fee Enquiry feature on its official website. Starting today, tenants can apply for verification at Taipower’s service office; after registration is complete, they can go online to conveniently check the average electricity cost per kWh for their rented property in the current period at any time and from anywhere. This not only helps tenants understand their electricity usage but also protects their rights and allows them to grasp reasonable standards for electricity charges in the rental housing market.

Taipower explained that to protect the privacy and rights of both the landlords and tenants, tenants must bring their residential lease agreement and identification document to Taipower’s service office and fill out an application form. Processing takes approximately 3 to 5 working days. Then, during the lease period, they can access the Tenant Electricity Fee Enquiry page on the official website.  Using the “simple” function, tenants can enter their ID number and phone number to check information such as the registered electricity usage address, the billing period for the current electricity bill, the average electricity rate per kWh for the current period, and whether there is a shared cost for electricity of public facilities.

Furthermore, since the payment of electricity bills involves the landlord’s privacy, if tenants wish to enquire about the actual electricity bill amount and other information, they can attach written consent from the landlord when applying in person. This document serves as evidence that the landlord has authorized the tenant to enquire about electricity bill data. With this authorization, tenants can access the “advanced” function on the payment enquiry page. This function not only includes the “simple” function details but also provides more detailed information, such as the electricity usage in the current period and during the same period last year, the total amount due for electricity bills, payment deadlines, past payment history, and more. Relevant documents can be downloaded from the payment enquiry page.

  • The Tenant Electricity Fee Enquiry’s “simple” function allows users to check information such as the average electricity rate per kWh for the current period. The “advanced” function allows users to access more detailed information, such as electricity usage in the current period and during the same period last year as well as the total amount due for electricity bills. Relevant documents can also be downloaded from the payment enquiry page.

Taipower emphasized that tenants need only apply once, and afterward they will be able to access electricity bills and their own electricity usage information at any time during the lease period. However, to ensure the security of landlords’ personal information, the enquiry function is only available to tenants until 60 days after the end of the lease agreement. If there are subsequent requests for renewal or changes in tenants, relevant documents can be presented at the counter for processing. For any questions regarding the Tenant Electricity Fee Enquiry page, please feel free to call Taipower’s 24-hour customer service hotline at 1911.
