Introduction of Thermal Power Plants

NanPu Power Plant is one of the power development projects proposed by the government early stages and is the vital power plant in the 1960s in southern Taiwan. It was built on October 30, 1955 and originally installed 3 steam turbines burning coal and 3 gas turbines. Total installed capacity is approximately 300 MW. Nevertheless, the 3 gas turbines and 3 steam turbines were already decommissioned in December 1983 and November 1993, respectively.

To cooperate with the long-term economic development carrying out by the government and to improve the environmental quality, TPC constructed combined cycle units in the original power plant, which is the sole one situating in the metropolis. The No.4 was commercially operated until June 2003. Total installed capacity is 1,117.8MW.
