How long does it take to restart Lungmen Power Plant?

Index > Power Life > TaipowerTV > One Minute to Understand the Key Point

First of all, it is difficult to grasp the timetable for negotiating the revised contract.
The GEH (GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy) team of Lungmen Power Plant has been disbanded, and after the dispute between Taiwan Power Company and GEH business arbitration, it will be more complicated to negotiate.

Second, the digital instrument control equipment has been discontinued and is difficult to update.
The reactor safety control system was commissioned by GEH to design by DRS and is incompatible with other nuclear power units. The system has been out of production for nearly 20 years, has been discontinued and overaged, and the equipment is difficult to update. The time schedule of the above two key issues is difficult to determine, and the time schedule is temporarily set to N years.

Even if it breaks through, there are still the following to-do works. To prepare a restart budget and agreed by the Legislative Yuan, apply to Atomic Energy Council to restart the project, reloading and testing the disassembled equipment, complete Fukushima Safety Enhancement Project, and carry out unit heat test. The above-mentioned to-do work needs at least 6 to 7 years, and the time schedule is temporarily set to N years.

Therefore, it is estimated that to restart Lungmen Power Plant will take N+6-7 years.
