In the event of insufficient power supply happening in our company and power supply outage needs to be planned, besides releasing related information about the outage via news media and Taipower websites, the methods listed below shall be used to notify users:
2.How can I check outage time?
Users can check the electricity bills to identify the Rotating Outage Group number (A~F) and confirm the outage time by the following methods:
Step1: When outage is implemented, access to ‘Outage Information Disclosure System’ on Taipower home page
Step 2: Enter ‘User Outage Inquiry’
Step 3: Enter ‘Address’ or ‘customer number’ and start inquiring.
3.Is Taipower liable for compensation to those affected by the outage caused by insufficient power supply?
In the event of outage caused by insufficient power supply, Taipower shall offer a discount off the electricity bill to compensate for users’ loss caused by the outage(Article 39 of Business Regulations) by the following ways:
(1) Streetlights and general users (‘Flat Lighting Service’ and ‘Meter Rate Lighting Service’ non-time-of-use rate users)
Baseline allocation fee: | The baseline allocation for general household users (single-phase low voltage power meter) per month is 20 kwh, and the current rate is $1.63/kwh, so the baseline allocation fee shall be $32.6 |
(2)Users with contract capacity (‘Power Service’ user and 'Meter Rate Lighting Service’time-of-use rate users)
Demand charge: | For users who set contract capacity with Taipower, if the highest demand of actual usage is 100 kW, and the current summer-month price is $236.2/kW, so the demand charge shall be $23,620 |

(3) Comparison Table of Compensation for Outage in other countries
- 1.Amount of electricity charge deduction: demand charge x4% x number of outage days (minimum duration of each outage: one hour)
- For users more than 500 kW(Japan) and 1,000 kW (Korea): Amount of electricity charge deduction: demand charge x 0.2% x number of outage hours
Outage duration less than 10 minutes: ignored; but if total outage duration reaches 30 minutes: calculated as one hour
