Notes:
  1. This table is compiled with the performance data of 2024 for reference from seven international utility groups across Asia Japan and South Korea, North America, and Europe. It is noted that the data of 2023 is also revealed for some undisclosed figures of 2024.
  2. The lower electricity generation for TEPCO and Chubu Electric Power in Japan stemmed from the integration of their thermal power plants into JERA in 2019. As of 2024, JERA's thermal capacity and heat rate were 60 GW and 49.3%, respectively. Furthermore, TEPCO's nuclear plants have not generated power till the end of 2024, and Chubu Electric’s sole nuclear facility, Hamaoka, has 3 units offline for inspection and 2 units in the decommissioning stage.
  3. In terms of System Average Interruption Duration Index, the United States and South Korea adopt the Duration for more than 5 minutes as the benchmark, and those for European countries mostly apply and Kansai Electric Power are more than 3 minutes and 1 minute, respectively. The durations for TEPCO and Chubu Electric Power are not specified.
  4. ROA = Profit before tax /Average total assets, and the data is based on the consolidated financial statements of those power companies in 2024.
  5. Moody’s is an international renowned credit rating companies. Moody’s rating order from high to low is Aaa, Aa, A, Baa, Ba, etc., and the same rating is further subdivided into higher and lower levels by using 1, 2, and 3.
