Taipower Vice President Ming-Shu Chen; Taipower Vice President Chih-Meng Tsai; Chief Shu-Fang Kao of the Energy Conservation Team, Bureau of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs; and representatives from the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), attended as distinguished guests to witness the endeavors in electricity saving. Taipower explained that since 2013, it has been organizing nationwide power-saving activities and continuously promoting electricity saving through innovative and diverse approaches. In 2023, the focus was on “striving to become top-level electricity conservers”, incorporating four major campaigns including sports, exhibitions, family activities, and festivals. The campaigns reached over 41 million people and included a national tour with visits to primary schools, where more than one hundred energy-saving activities were held. Moreover, the campaigns integrated electricity-saving knowledge and daily expressions into free Line stickers called “Dianbao”, which exceeded 600,000 downloads.

Taipower stated that in 2023, through nationwide efforts, electricity savings in residential homes, junior high schools, and elementary schools exceeded 1.8 billion kWh. Nearly 13 million households responded to the call for electricity conservation, and Taipower also offered nearly NT$1.5 billion in electricity-saving incentives. Moreover, Taipower incorporated time-of-use pricing, demand response, electricity-saving services, and other demand-side management measures to guide large users such as enterprises in conserving electricity. For example, through Energy Saving Service Teams, Taipower actively assisted industrial users in analyzing their electricity usage. This initiative guided 4,527 users in 2023, resulting in an estimated electricity savings of around 17 million kWh. In recent years, Taipower has further invested in professional measuring instruments to provide in-depth energy-saving advice for energy-intensive equipment in the manufacturing industry, thereby customizing energy-saving improvement assessments to suit users’ specific needs.
