In order to strengthen the company's competitiveness and customer service, Taipower actively engages in the promotion of R&D projects. In addition to completing 171 technical reports, 66 papers, 18 product developments, 1 9 process improvements , 1 7 technical introductions, 14 technical innovations, 3 new patents, 59 technical services and 11 technical promotions, the major achievements were:

1. Improvement in Thermal Efficiency

The study on the improvement in thermal efficiency included the impact of coal quality on generators, the identification of abnormal operation conditions by heat balance method, the diagnostic of performance deterioration of the components, and the implementation of optimization techniques for the boilers

2. Promotion of Renewable Energy

◆ Continued investigation and planning of new energy projects.

◆ Completed study on fabrication and energy storage of the novel alloys with high hydrogen storage capacity, and filed related patent applications.

◆ Continued planning and installation of 10 KWp HCPV system and built a forecasting model for wind turbine output.

◆ Upgraded an experimental facility of integrating renewable energy with fuel cell power generation.

3. Application of New Technologies

◆ Conducted feasibility and cost-benefit analysis of Taipoewr advanced metering infrastructure(AMI).

◆ Applied power line carrier technique in distribution sub-feeder maintenance automation.

◆ Conducted a feasibility study of bidirectional energy management system (BEMS) for home/commercial customers.
