Research and Development
In order to strengthen the company's competitiveness and customer service, Taipower actively engages in the promotion of R&D projects each year. Its purpose is to introduce advanced electricity technologies and establish electricity core technologies and an electricity knowledge consulting system to fulfill this effort. The major accomplishments in 2005 were: 1. Ensured Power System Stability and Reliability . Established the Electric Power System Simulation Center and the Phasor Management (PMU) System. . Completed a feasibility study on Application of an Automatic Voltage Control System to Taipower System. . Studied the Application and Optimal Setting of Out-of-Step Relay for Taipower System.
2. Developed Customer Energy Management and Information Value-added Application Techniques . Established load profiles of distribution feeders, a Web-based customer energy management system and a customer information data base.
3. Conducted a Measuring and Analysis for Steam Turbine Rotor System . Studied geometry measuring and basic designs for turbine rotors. . Established "Torsional Natural Frequency On-line Measuring and Monitoring System." . Developed a "Virtual Steam Turbine Rotor System." . Performed rotor life assessment of HP/IP steam turbines.
4. Improved the Operation Specifications for Nuclear Power Plants . Revised conditions for operation to enhance the flexibility of operation. . Introduced Integrated Plant Assessment Regulations. . Established maintenance rules to adjust maintenance items. . Relaxed the leakages test requirement of the containment of nuclear power plants.
5. Planned the Integration of Economy, Electricity and Environment . Established and applied the price forecasting decision supporting system for thermal generation. . Formulated national long-term load forecasting and long-term power development program. . Established information system and undertook benefit analysis for power generation and purchased power. |
