To balance the system load and improve the system load factor and power efficiency, Taipower has instituted the following load management measures:
 

1. Increasing the rate difference between peak and off-peak hours, the largest summer season ratio between peak and off-peak is 7.56:1.
 

2. Revising and increasing the number of categories in the Load Reduction Program (LRP). By the end of 2006, Taipower has offered 7 kinds of LRP. In July 2006, 879 customers adopted LRP and 1,163 MW was clipped on the peak day.
 

3. Promoting ice-storage central air conditioning system, currently 284 customers have installed the ice-storage system, for a total compressor capacity of 202,454 hp.
 

4. Informing customers about the discrepancy between summer and winter rates.

 

5. Promoting the“Central Air-Conditioner and Package Air-Conditioner Duty Cycling Load Control Measure,”86 customers applied for joining the measure from June 1 to August 31, 2006.
