Industrial safety and on-the-job injuries is the most important issue in this company's management. The high-ranking officials spare no effort to give instructions on every occasion that employees' lives should be protected at whatever cost. Management systems have been established based on“People First”to upgrade industrial safety per formance. The implementation status and achievements in 2006 were as follows:
1. Implementation
(1) Implemented the Government's“233 Injury Reduction Plan”
(in 2 years reducing the number of deaths and major injuries both by 30%) In compliance with this plan (effective from January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2007), overall fatalities and on-the-job injuries were reduced by 12% in 2006. The plan is to achieve an 18% level of reduction by 2007.
(2) Implemented an Annual Investigation Plan
• Safety and health investigation team made on 35 random checks in 124 units. • Main transformer investigation team made 4 checks of 55 transformers in 23 units. • Industrial safety per formance was investigated in 67 units of the second-level Responsibility System Center. • Investigation and follow-up checks on the improvement of the fire-fighting system in 12 units.

(1) Employees
• Excluded commuting:The frequency index of injuries was 0.36 and the severity index 56. The total injury index was 4.48, the lowest in recent years. • Included commuting:The frequency index of injuries was 0.49 and the severity index 63. The total injury index was 5.55, the lowest in recent years.
(2) Contractors
The frequency index of injuries was 0.65, the second lowest in recent years. |
