I. Project Objectives
In order to extend and improve our distribution system to meet the estimated electric power demand in Taiwan area during July 2003 to December 2007, and to enhance our customer-service quality, and to support the government’s policy of "providing a boost to the economy through the development of the electric power affairs", TPC formulated this plan "The Fifth Power Distribution Project".

II. Project Contents
Listed below is the major contents of "The Fifth Power Distribution Project" (Taipei West Branch part only):

1. Construction of Power Lines:

221 kilometers circuit length of power lines will be constructed.

2. Changing Overhead Power Lines to Underground Cables:
140 kilometers circuit length of overhead power lines will be changed to underground cables.

3. Voltage Changing of Power Distribution System:
The system voltage of  118 kilometers circuit length of power lines will be changed from 11.4 to 22.8kV.

4. Enhancement of Power Supply Stability:

To improve the power supply quality and stability, we have planned many feeding line connection projects, sub feeding loop system improvement projects, and load adjustment projects. These projects will cover totally 48 kilometers circuit length of power lines

5. Construction of Distribution Substations:

14 new Distribution Substations will be built and there will be 296 new feeders in these 14 D/S .

6. Automation of Power Feeding Lines:

To reduce outage duration and affected area in case of power failure accidents, we planned to fulfill the automation of 144 power lines.

7. Substations Facilities Improvements:

At least 10 improvements of our substations facilities will be implemented.
